Netgear Orbi vs. Amped Wireless ALLY: Comparison Details

Best Coverage Area – Tie
5.0 stars

Based on reviews posted on popular review sites as well as from Netgear Orbi's website, Netgear Orbi performs very well in terms of coverage area relative to other mesh wifi system brands.

The review site techspot.com gives Netgear Orbi excellent ratings for coverage area in a review posted on its website. Here's a brief quote from this review:

We really like the NETGEAR Orbi Mesh Router With built-in Cable Modem kit, model CBK40. The kit offers fast AC Wi-Fi that can cover up to 4000sqft with the included satellite, and it could potentially save you money over the long run.

The review site pcmag.com gives Netgear Orbi excellent ratings for coverage area in a review posted on its website. Here's a brief quote from this review:

The Netgear Orbi Mesh Wi-Fi System (RBK50V) ($429.99) is a tri-band mesh Wi-Fi system with a twist: Its AC2200 satellite node contains a powerful speaker array and circuitry that allows it to do everything that an Amazon Echo, Tap, or Dot can do. At $429.99, this system doesn't come cheap, but it provides Wi-Fi coverage for homes of up to 4,500 square feet and delivered solid scores on our throughput performance tests. It also offers free and fee-based parental controls and is easy to install. But if you're willing to sacrifice the built-in speaker, you can get the same wide coverage along with the malware protection and home automation features of the Editors' Choice TP-Link Deco M9 Plus for $130 less.

Based on reviews posted on popular review sites as well as from Amped Wireless ALLY's website, Amped Wireless ALLY performs very well in terms of coverage area relative to other mesh wifi system brands.

The review site cnet.com gives Amped Wireless ALLY excellent ratings for coverage area in a review posted on its website. Here's a brief quote from this review:

If you live in a home of 4,000 square feet or so and want to broadcast Wi-Fi coverage across every inch of it, the $300 Ally Plus is a great choice. The only exception might be is if your home is already outfitted with Ethernet ports. In that case, Google Wifi will provide better performance, since the Ally Plus doesn't allow for connecting the units together using a network cable.

The review site pcmag.com gives Amped Wireless ALLY excellent ratings for coverage area in a review posted on its website. From this review:

The Ally Plus system consists of a router and an extender node that are paired at the factory and are designed to provide up to 5,000 square feet of seamless home Wi-Fi coverage. For smaller homes, you can buy the router by itself ($179), which covers up to 2,500 square feet. Amped Wireless does not currently offer additional extender nodes, which means this solution may come up short in much larger houses. However, extender units may become available in the future, according to a company spokesperson.
